It's the time of the year for 김장, meaning making and storing kimchi for the whole year. We went to Gomo's house on Sunday to try to make kimchi. I didn't help much because mummy didn't allow me to do it. After that we went to the airport to fetch Yee-po because she came to Korea.

Wow! Thats awesome, actually I just tried to make kimchee because dh and I are addicted to the stuff and failed...because I couldnt find the right ingredients! argh!
First I couldnt find the chili pepper flakes so I got chilli powder-big mistake...it turned it brown and was way toooooo hot. Then I couldnt find fish sauce so I got anchovy paste-big mistake...it was really thick with bones. YUCK!
The fish sauce you guys use...is it the same as the Vietnamese fish sauce which is just like water, fish extract and salt? Bceuase if so then I'll try again using that!
I could find the cabbages (here they r called Chinese cabbage) and could find spring onion, but no Korean radish.
Anu suggestions? dh and I are craving real kimchee...
yes the fish sauce looks like the vietnamese kind. the kimchi cabbage is actually chinese cabbage you're right. i hope you get it right... btw how's everything in saudi arabia?
